Remembering Jack D. Gordon

Jack D. Gordon, Chairman and CEO of Hospice Foundation of America since 1990, died on December 17, 2005 at Palm Desert, California. Fifty-five years of extraordinary public service came to an end with his death. Gordon died shortly after being struck by a car in a parking lot near his home. Jack was a vigorous defender of human rights, an innovator in health care legislation, and a leader in seeking dignity in care for the dying. He was 83.

Jack is survived by his wife, Myra MacPherson, a noted author and journalist, his children Andrew of Miami, Deborah of Redwood City, California and Jonathon of Santa Monica, his stepchildren Michael of Palo Alto, California and Leah, of Dallas and seven grandchildren.
