While providing psychosocial care is traditionally seen as the role of a social worker on a palliative care team, some programs are training pharmacists to play a greater part.

where is the law written that allows a hospice nurse to confiscate the remaing drugs after a patient dies?????

This is part of the US Code of Federal Regulations, under Title 42 - Public Health, Part 418 Hospice Care, Subpart E—Conditions of Participation: Other Services

§ 418.96 Condition of participation—Medical supplies.
(b) Standard: Controlled drugs in the patient's home. The hospice must have a policy for the disposal of controlled drugs maintained in the patient's home when those drugs are no longer needed by the patient.
Further, in the event a patient resides in an inpatient hospice, § 418.100 Condition of participation Hospices that provide inpatient care directly
(7) Drug disposal. Controlled drugs no longer needed by the patient are disposed of in compliance with State requirements. In the absence of State requirements, the pharmacist and a registered nurse dispose of the drugs and prepare a record of the disposal.
