Hospice Volunteers: Recruiting, Retaining, Rewarding
Volunteers have always been an essential component of hospice care. The hospice movement in the U.S. was started by volunteers-- people who wanted to help bring comfort, dignity and support to the patients and families who were affected by life- limiting illness. This program includes tips and ideas from professional hospice volunteer coordinators, as well as personal insights from hospice volunteers. As one volunteer so eloquently states, “I know I have made a difference, at least in one person’s life at this point. And I know it’s toward the end of their life but that makes it all the more important.”
