Hospice Foundation of America to Participate in Dementia Caregivers
Phone Network Support Program
Washington (March 14)—Care Connection is a free telephone network
specifically geared for caregivers of those with dementia. Held live each
Thursday night at 9 pm Eastern time, the one-hour sessions consist of a
blend of coaching, presentations by experts and lots of sharing. Each
session addresses medical, social, emotional and practical issues with a
dementia specific slant. Up to 150 people from across the U.S. can call in.
Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) will partake in a series of programs,
each focusing on different aspects of caregiving at the end of life.
On March 16, Lisa Veglahn, program consultant for HFA and David Abrams,
president of HFA, will present “Hospice 101.” Ms. Veglahn and Mr. Abrams
will discuss the basics and benefits of hospice care; how to get hospice
care; and issues surrounding dementia patients and hospice use. The next two
parts of the HFA hospice and dementia series will take place on April 20 and
May 18.
Care Connection is a strategic alliance between the Alzheimer’s
Foundation of America (AFA), a national nonprofit organization focused on
providing optimal care to individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related
illnesses, and Ask Dr. Jamie; Jamie Rotnofsky, a psychologist and
professional life coach, hosts the teleconferences and provides coaching.
Caregivers can call in toll-free at 877-AFA-2992; the guest
identification number is 271004#.
