Hospice Foundation of America Partners with AGIS for New Online Resource

Washington – February 12, 2008 – Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) has partnered with AGIS, an online community and information resource for family caregivers, to offer expert advice and information on end-of-life issues for caregivers. AGIS provides caregiving expertise and advice across the spectrum of caregiving and is available at www.agis.com

“This partnership enables HFA to reach a large audience of caregivers who are looking for answers about  a variety of end-of-life issues, including caring for someone who is dying, hospice care, and grief,” said David Abrams,  HFA president.
“This partnership is exciting for us because AGIS is one of the few online communities to have successfully reached across generations to provide information that all of us will someday need. We are happy to be part of AGIS’s effort.”

The AGIS eldercare portal showcases HFA’s expertise in caregiving issues involving terminal illness, grief, emotional pain and other complex issues associated with the last months or weeks of a loved one’s life.

The new AGIS interactive HFA “Ask the Experts” section enables families to find specific answers to personal challenges easily online.

“We are honored to partner with HFA to bring caregivers a complete resource for all their needs,” said Kevin Sypniewski, Founder and CEO of AGIS. “The information we have developed along with HFA’s expert resources will hopefully help caregivers through all phases of care.”

While no one can ever be fully prepared for the emotions and situations that come from caring for a dying loved one, HFA and AGIS desire that no family caregiver will ever have to face this time alone.

AGIS has a comprehensive collection of information and community features all designed to give caregivers a fully functional resource for caring for aging parents, friends or family members. AGIS works hand-in-hand with leading organizations, such as HFA, to deliver the web’s premier resource for eldercare information. AGIS site includes long term care resources, Alzheimer’s disease and dementia information, legal and financial preparation tips, checklists, suggestions for new caregivers and much more.
Other groups partnering with AGIS include Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and the Family Caregiver Alliance.

Washington, September 25, 2007 --- Hospice Foundation of America today launched the Hospice and Caregiving Blog, www.hospicefoundation.org/blog, to provide information and resources to hospice and other medical professionals, as well as to caregivers who share in the end-of life experience.

Our goals are to inform, offer support, and generate online discussion of important end-of life issues," said David Abrams, HFA's president and CEO. "As the population ages and knowledge of hospice care and end-of-life issues for all ages increases, HFA is well-positioned to gather, disseminate, and facilitate information sharing.

“The information on this blog, drawn from some of the best sources in the field with links to additional useful resources, can potentially benefit millions of people looking for the latest support materials about end-of-life care at a single Internet destination,” Abrams said.

HFA has always worked to find innovative ways to reach hospice professionals and caregivers where they do their work. Fifteen years ago HFA developed the National Bereavement Teleconference, which educates tens of thousands of professionals and caregivers each year, and now HFA is using the most current technology to continue its educational mission.

HFA's blog will cover a variety of subjects, including but not limited to aging, caregiving, grief, hospice and palliative care, and stories about patients and caregivers. Articles and stories are indexed for easy reference. Bloggers have the opportunity to post a comment, share ideas, or ask other bloggers for feedback.

Hospice Foundation of America is a non-profit organization that exists to help those who cope personally or professionally with terminal illness, death, and the process of grief and bereavement.
