Washington, DC: Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) has been awarded a prestigious Telly Award for its Spirituality and End-of-Life Care program, a 2.5 hour video produced in 2011 as part of HFA’s Living with Grief® educational series.
"We’re grateful that our work has been recognized for its educational content and its high production standards,” said Amy Tucci, president and CEO of HFA. “This award is a credit to all of those involved in HFA’s programmatic work.”
Spirituality and End-of-Life Care features interviews with hospice professionals working with patients at the end of life, as well as moving vignettes with individuals facing their own death or the death of a loved one. The program addresses the differences between spirituality and religion, and looks at spirituality during illness, death and grief; spiritual assessment and empowerment, and life review. An expert panel of noted academicians and professionals, moderated by Frank Sesno, discusses the significance of spirituality at life’s end.
"The willingness of the people we interviewed to share their thoughts on such a deeply personal subject as spirituality, some of whom faced the end of their lives at that time, truly made the program special," said Spence Levine, vice president for programs at HFA.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world. The awards are judged by a panel of more than 500 accomplished industry professionals, who review over 11,000 entries annually. The HFA program won in the Religion and Spirituality category.
Hospice Foundation of America, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1982 with a mission of educating the public and professionals about end-of-life care. It has produced the Living with Grief® series for 19 years. Spirituality and End-of-Life Care was HFA’s 18th annual program; its 19th Annual program, End-of-Life Ethics, will be released in mid-April, 2012.
