Interview with Joan Teno, MD, MS
Joan M. Teno, MD, MS is a Professor of Community Health and Medicine and Associate Director of the Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University. She is a health services researcher, hospice medical director, and board-certified internist with added qualification in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Teno has over 120 research articles published in leading medical journals focusing on examining medical care for dying persons and frail persons residing in nursing homes. She is considered an expert in Artificial Nutrition and Hydration.
Interview with Ira Byock, MD
Ira Byock, MD, has been involved in hospice and palliative care since 1978. He is a founder of a hospice home care program in Fresno, California, a past president of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and has published numerous articles on the ethics and practice of hospice, palliative and end-of-life care. Byock's most recent book, The Best Care Possible, is widely available.
HFA's Medical Consultant, Hank Willner, MD, initially was certified in Family Practice in 1978. He is Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Practice both at Georgetown University Medical School and the Medical College of Virginia, a hospice medical director, and palliative medicine physician consultant.
