Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging, Department of Health & Human Services.Dear Members of the Aging Network, On Wednesday, April 24, 2002, 1:30pm to 4:00pm EDT, Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) will present their ninth annual National Bereavement Teleconference, Living With Grief: Loss in Later Life. This year's teleconference will examine the needs and barriers faced by our aging population and explore ways that professionals can more effectively assist those coping with the range of losses found in later life. Moderated by Cokie Roberts of ABC News, this live-via-satellite broadcast will feature a panel of noted experts in the field of aging and loss. We encourage all members of the aging network to take advantage of this unique educational opportunity and participate in one of the following ways: 1. Register to host a teleconference site in your area. Each year the teleconference is hosted by local organizations in communities across the country. 2. Attend an existing teleconference site. A list of local teleconference sites will be available on the HFA web site in January. Please contact HFA for information. 3. Pass this information to other organizations and professionals in your area who may be interested in hosting or participating. You may be interest in co-hosting a teleconference site with a local hospice, medical center or community college. As a special offer to members of the aging network, HFA will waive the materials fee for state and local agencies on aging that register to host the teleconference. Organizations who register with HFA as a teleconference site will receive detailed support materials and the opportunity to offer Continuing Education credits to professionals in their area.
