Title: Silenced Thoughts
Organization: Wayside Hospice
Artist: Stephanie Schulman
Other: “My grief over my own mother’s death helped me create this work of art. I of all people know the feelings of anger, depression, sadness, loneliness, and being left out – all of those feelings you get when someone dies. This poster represents everything a child may feel with the loss of a parent, sibling, friend, aunt, cousin, grandparent, or anyone else close to them. Everything written on this poster came from my heart and own experiences. Just because someone dies, doesn’t mean that they’re gone forever. No matter what, they will always be inside your heart. Family never changes, only people and feelings do. No one chooses to die; it’s something that just happens as I’ve come to learn. It’s how we cope that matters. Wayside Hospice is one of the best places to help children and adolescents cope with their feelings of grief.”
